Encar Garcia Vila
After obtaining a degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona, Encar spent 15 years working with primates and mammals in various habitats, including 8 years at the renowned Barcelona Zoo, where she cared for many animals including Snowflake, the unique albino gorilla who called the zoo home for 37 years.
A trained biologist, Sandro dedicated his life to caring for animals, with a special interest in reptiles and amphibians. He was the founder of Atrox Group, an organization that cares for snakes and other reptiles, with touring exhibitions that showcase the animals and bring public awareness to their needs, and their important place in the world.
With inconsolable sadness in our hearts we announced, on Sunday February 28th 2016, the passing of our brilliant, beloved and unique Sandro Alviani, co-founder of the Jaguar Rescue Centre Foundation. His unexpected passing shocked us all. We lost a great person, a strong fighter, a tireless activist. He deeply loved this place, and all of nature was in mourning, along with us.
Sandro, will always be in our hearts, and his spirit will live on here in the Jaguar Rescue Centre and in the lives of the animals that would have had no hope without his dedication! We will carry on Sandro´s legacy of conservation and wildlife protection. We know that Sandro will continue to lead us in making the world a better place for all living creatures.
