This is my Story...

Georgis will melt your heart. I´m a howler monkey that arrived as a newborn with only 10-15 days old.

I fell from a tree in an urban area, my rescuers played my howl in a speaker but because of the noise and people density, my troop did not come back for me.

For the first three months, I was isolated under care and monitoring.

Before the end of my first year, I will begin to interact with other monkeys of more advanced ages and together they will be moved to an enclosure adapted to the natural forest conditions. As soon as they adapt they are released as a group.

Howler Monkey((Alouatta palliata)

These monkeys live in Central and South America. At home in the forest, they hardly ever leave the treetops. They don't move very far each day, feeding leisurely at the very top of the forest canopy. Howlers mainly eat leaves, as well as fruits, nuts, and flowers. Howler monkeys get almost all the water they need from the food they eat.

Howler monkeys have prehensile tails or tails that can grip. The monkeys use their tails as a fifth limb to grip branches. Mostly it uses its tail to help grip branches as it eats and moves around high in the trees. Each family group is generally made up of 15 to 20 howlers. The leader is usually an old male. The head and body of adult howler monkeys range from 22 to 36 inches long and their tail can add 23 to 36 inches.

Howler monkeys are the loudest of all monkeys. They call to let others know where their territory is, alerting them to stay away. The calls sound like a loud whooping bark or roar. After one group of howlers call, another group answers. Howler monkeys usually do this in the morning and at the end of the day.

Howler Monkeys are the loudest animal in the New World and their sound can travel for up to three miles of thick forest

Some Howler Monkeys can live up to 20 years of age.

Unlike Old World monkeys, howlers and other New World species have a prehensile tail. They can use this tail as an extra arm to grip or even hang from branches.
