01. Description

The daily tour at the JRC Sanctuary is unlike any animal experience you’ve had before. The most educational and entertaining tour for all audiences and ages. During the hour and a half of the visit our expert guides will show you the resident wildlife animals, explain their stories, characteristics and the challenges they face. You can see iconic animals like monkeys, sloths, birds like macaws or toucans, deer, snakes, etc. All the biodiversity of Costa Rica concentrated in a Little corner of the Caribbean. 02. Important

No prior reservation necessary. Please arrive at least 15-20 minutes early to secure your spot or book your ticket online

Please note that online tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance or by 8 p.m. on the day before the tour.

Tours begin at the scheduled time - punctuality is advised! We don't wait for those who are late!

9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. We recommend sending us an e-mail or calling us to confirm that we are open (Friendly reminder we are closed on January 1st.).

$28.00 USD (Children under 10 visit us for free - Payment accepted in cash or by credit card)

Tours are offered in English and Spanish. French and German are subject to availability.

This is an outdoor activity and we do tours rain or shine. Come prepared according to the weather.

No, for the safety of the animals as well as yours there is no human to animal contact as it is against the Costa Rican Law

No, we suggest to pack lightly when you come because you will be walking/standing for the entirety of the tour.

We suggest arriving 15-30 minutes beforehand (even earlier during high season)

There are a few areas with a roof but we consider it an outdoor tour. We still have tours rain or shine, bring a rain jacket!

This depends on the amount of guides we have available (they are volunteers) and how many people show up. We average 15 people per group.

No, we only allow visitors with a guided tour. You cannot walk around before, after, or during the tour alone.

Many people rent bikes and ride to us but you can come by taxi or by bus (from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo) and get off on the main road in front of the Center. Please note that we do not arrange transportation.

Thanks to you, all of your donation fee goes directly back to the animals whether it be medical supplies, food or materials for their enclosures. There would be no rescue center without YOU!

You may take pictures OF the animals but pictures of Human to animal contact are against the Costa Rican Law.

Yes! The tour route is flat terrain and we have a wheelchair if someone needs one.
