Communication and Digital Marketing Internship

Your skills could help the JRC to promote our work and improve wild animal protection.

Position Description: During this internship, I will work alongside the Social Media Manager and gain hands-on experience in digital marketing and communications within a wildlife rescue center. I will learn about and be involved in the following activities:

  •  Supporting the social media marketing strategy, including planning, creating, publishing, and updating content across different platforms
  •  Improving the quality, consistency, and reach of the center’s social media channels
  •  Writing communication and community management content such as captions, press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and informational materials
  •  Creating photos and videos related to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of wild animals, as well as the center’s daily activities
  •  Assisting with online fundraising and awareness campaigns
  •  Collaborating with the veterinary, rescue, and education teams to communicate stories accurately and ethically
  •  Supporting special campaigns, events, or urgent wildlife cases when needed

All the activities are variable and dependant on project needs and the technical level of interns but offer a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience in the communications and digital marketing field for wildlife and nature conservation.

The internship can be completed in a combined format:

  •  3 days per week working in the Communications & Digital Marketing internship (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
  •  2 days per week participating as a regular volunteer (optional)
  •  2 days off per week

This format allows interns to gain experience in both digital communication and hands-on wildlife rescue activities, if they wish.

- Minimum 18 years old
- English level B2 (Spanish is a plus)
- Excellent writing skills with interest and basic knowledge in marketing, wildlife, and conservation
- Experience managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
- Ability to generate creative ideas and adapt content to different platforms and audiences
- Well organized, proactive, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of content creation tools: Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro)
- Photography and video creation skills with demonstrable experience
- Basic understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics (engagement, reach, insights)
- Familiar with digital tools such as Mailchimp, Gmail, and Google Drive
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Sensitivity and respect when communicating about wildlife rescue and conservation topics
- Interns must bring their own laptop

- Duration: 3 months
- Daily hours: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- 5 days per week, with 2 days off per week

College credit is offered if desired; volunteer is responsible for obtaining necessary approvals from their university

We offer accommodation for our volunteers located next to the Rescue Center. Jaguar Inn is a beautiful new hostel designed for your comfort and convenience.

Bright exterior rooms with garden views and 4 single beds, quality mattresses, sheets, large capacity lockers, individual reading lights, and plugs to charge your electronic devices. All of them are mixed dorms, ensuite with hot showers, and include mosquito nets.

We also offer a private room with its own kitchen. This room has a different price and is subject to availability—feel free to ask if you're interested!

In the common area (El Rancho), you can relax and share experiences with your fellow travelers from all over the world while sitting on the comfortable sofas. You can prepare your meals in the fully equipped kitchen, which includes cutlery and utensils, a stove, an oven, and microwaves. There are several supermarkets close by, and you can store your food and drinks in the refrigerators.

Of course, the WiFi internet connection is included. For your added security, we have a night guard.
