Beaches are an essential part of human lives. Removing litter from the shoreline is of benefit to the ocean ecosystem. This is why we celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd with a beach cleaning in Playa Chiquita and its surroundings.

As more and more people move to the Caribbean South, the threat of deforestation and habitat loss becomes increasingly significant.

Three weeks ago a juvenile green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) was brough to the JRC after being found by coast guards on the beach in Limon, Costa Rica. This turtle was confiscated by the coast guards, who also helped to transport it to the JRC.

We launched our "Fronteras de Paz" project, which is part of our 2030 agenda.

The JRC would like to introduce the newest member of our adoption program. Turanga the 2 finger sloth & Patacón the baby kinkajou.

Unfortunately, we set a new record this month by saving 100 animals. We have stated that in the last ten years, we have never received this many animals in a single month.

The Jaguar Rescue Center continues to expand, and we were able to complete numerous projects thanks to the help and donations we received from the La Ceiba Primary Forest Foundation in 2022.
